According to the news reports, on Sunday night many of the residents of Keamari port and surrounding areas report to the hospital against the breathing problems due to the leakage of some mysterious toxic gas exhausting from the port. The news made to headlines when 3 people succumb to death. The real causes of the deaths have not yet known. The people in the nearby areas of Keamari claimed breathing problems, eyes itching and chest tightness.
According to the initial investigation and medical reports, Hydrogen Sulphide H2S is probably the toxic gas. Hydrogen Sulphide is the by-product of crude oil. The mysterious toxic gas reportedly emitted from chemicals contained in a container used to preserve the peas in Keamari.
EFFECTS ON PUBLIC OF KEAMARI TOXIC GAS
The mysterious toxic gas has its effects on people on its second day as well. More than 100 people admitted to the hospital after inhaling the toxic gas. The gas has many dangerous effects. The people are so much worried so that the schools were closed, the trading activities have affected badly. Moreover, they are thinking of moving away from the area temporarily. Many people protest against the incident at Keamari Jackson Market and blocked the roads for traffic. The protesters demanded the resignation of the maritime affairs minister and chairman of Karachi port trust (KPT), because Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Pakistan Navy has the duty to manage the facilities of the Karachi Port.
TREATMENTS GIVEN TO TOXIC GAS VICTIMS
Ziauddin hospital has raised an emergency for the medical treatment of people suffered from the incident. Many other people have come to Kutiyana Hospital, Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Burhani Hospitals and other nearby Hospitals. The Government will pay all the expenses of the treatment, said a spokesperson of the Sindh government.
LATEST UPDATE REGARDING THE INCIDENT OCCURRED
The recent update confirmed that the death toll rises to at least 14, more than 250 people have effected from the mysterious toxic gas. A medical report has prepared by taking samples of affected people from toxic gas. International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) has compiled the report. The report claimed that the Soybean Dust is present in blood samples collected from the people who died after the toxic gas inhalation.
